Greetings to you from Trinity Lutheran Church! It’s a blessing to serve as interim pastor this year. I come to Trinity via ELCA Central States Synod interim ministry assignments the past two years at Overland Park Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran in Lawrence. My wife Jan and I relocated to Shawnee from South Dakota three years ago. My seminary training includes a year at the Luther House of Study at Sioux Falls Seminary plus on-line classes through Luther and Wartburg seminaries. In 2008 the South Dakota Synod approved me for service as a rostered leader with the current designation of Deacon.
As a second (or third, if you count the eight years of substitute teaching in the Sioux Falls school district) career minister, I appreciate the opportunity to use my God-given gifts to help guide congregations through the discernment process and activities that takes place between the departure of the previous settled pastor and calling a new one. My previous career included 33 years serving our nation’s veterans, first as a claims examiner and then a healthcare executive.
Being a Wisconsin native and UW grad, you’ll find me cheering for the Packers and Badgers. I enjoy operating model trains, walking, and travel with my family, which includes our two adult children, Megan and Matt.
Welcome to Trinity. We look forward to seeing you at 10:30 Sunday morning worship and invite you to the activities and ministries posted here on our website.
Interim Pastor Alan Saatkamp
Cindy McGinnis is our Administrative Assistant. She is a life-long member of Trinity, but was baptized in Olsburg Lutheran Church. Cindy is married to David McGinnis (also a life member of Trinity), who works at the VA Hospital here in Topeka. Cindy & David have two children. Sara lives in Salina, KS and is a zoo keeper at Rolling Hills Zoo. Michael and his wife, Meghan, and six-month old grandson, Cameron, live in Hutchinson.
Marcy Carlson is our custodian, with help from her sons, Ben and John. Marcy is a long-time member of Trinity and the building and grounds hold a special place in her heart.
